October 2019

I hope you are staying warm on this blustery October day.   Now that winter is here, be sure to read the weather considerations section of the catalog on page 4.

The fall term has been busy.  Our registration numbers are up from last fall.   We have many new people joining us for classes.  Please welcome them if you do not recognize the person sitting next to you.

As a reminder, all PILLAR classes start on time.  So as a courtesy to your instructor, host, and fellow participants, come at least 10 minutes early to get checked in, grab some coffee, and go to the restroom.  Thank you!

The PILLAR Reader's Theatre will present some fascinating folk and fairy tales on Wednesday, October 23 from 1 to 3PM at the PILLAR classroom. You will hear Alice in Wonderland, Trickster Coyote, and a Grimm's Brother's tale as well as some amusing "fractured" revisions of recognizable tales we know and love in a reader's theatre format. This program is for adults as well as children.

You can also hear a Golden Age of radio production of "The Bickerson's: The Honeymoon is over" on KCME 88.7 FM on Sunday, October 20 at 5:45 PM as well as Monday, October 21 at 7:45 PM. To find out more about Reader's Theatre, please contact Joan Valentine at: vedette.joan@gmail.com or 719-266-0319.

We are building our spring catalog right now.  If you are interested in teaching for us , go to our Teach page on the website.   And speaking of website, we have a new website!  Same web address, though.  We have tried to make it more user friendly, with key words such as Learn, Teach, and Volunteer.  Check it out and let us know what you think.
