We are finishing up the fall term this week, but we have a few deadlines for you to know. The final payment deadline for the Magnolia Market trip to Waco, Texas is December 15th. There is still room if you want to go. Contact the office this week.
The PILLAR/WES trip Discover Oklahoma has extended its $500 deposit deadline to January 10th with a final payment due in February. This trip will hit the highlights of Oklahoma and broaden your appreciation for a state that has so many treasures, such as the Chihuly exhibit. You will see the Oklahoma City Museum of Art which is the home of one of the largest collections of Chihuly glass in the world. There you will see the beautiful Chiluly Tower and more (see above photo). Expand your knowledge of Native American history, the Dustbowl, and Alabaster Caverns by going on this trip. The bus trip is 7 days and 6 nights with some meals from Tuesday, April 28—Monday, May 4, 2020. The price is $1650 Double Occupancy and $2055 Single Occupancy. This price includes $100 donations to both WES and PILLAR.
We have been approved to be an Enterprise Zone project for 2020. However, there is still time to make your 2019 Enterprise Zone donation for your 2019 taxes. Just make sure the check is dated by December 31, 2019. PILLAR will be closed for the holidays, but you can mail in your donation and we will still process it on time. The minimum amount to donate is $250. Make out the check to the El Paso County Enterprise Zone with PILLAR and the last 4 of your social in the memo. Enterprise Zone donations are a credit, not a deduction, off of your Colorado State income tax.
Next year there will be a new Colorado State income tax program called REfund Colorado. On the Voluntary Contributions page of your income tax forms, you will be able to donate all or a portion of your refund to one Colorado nonprofit. We will have more information on that after the new year.
The spring catalog is at the printers right now and should be delivered to the PILLAR office soon. This term it will not be mailed out unless specifically asked for. This is due to increased costs of printing and mailing. In addition, the catalogs always take 2-3 weeks to be delivered to a residence as the printing and mailing company is in Denver. By then, most of you already have a copy in hand as the office gets them delivered by truck a couple weeks earlier and our volunteers have placed the catalogs outside of the PILLAR office and delivered them to the local libraries. Many of you have mentioned that you don’t want a catalog mailed as you don’t want PILLAR to pay for postage and you don't mind picking up a catalog as soon as they come into the office or at a library. Don’t forget that the catalog will also be on the PILLAR website in the form of a flip book and sent out by email as a PDF. Although PILLAR will be closed for the holidays, the stands outside the office will be replenished on a regular basis. If you can, please pick up several catalogs and keep them in your car to hand to friends who may not be able to get in to get a catalog. Also, let the office know if your local library is out of catalogs and we will send a volunteer to bring some more. If you cannot pick up a catalog and need one mailed to you, please call the office at 633-4991 to be put on the mailing list. Please do not send an email to this email address. Catalogs will not be mailed out until the office reopens on January 6th.
The PILLAR office will be closed for the holidays from December 18 to January 5 and reopen on January 6th for the start of spring registration. The first day of classes is January 17th and there are close to 90 classes, day tours, and trips to choose from this coming spring. When the spring catalogs are delivered to the office, I will send out an email so you can pick up your catalog.
